A series of twitches, shudders, full body spasms, gestures both rapid and slow, pulsate through all four figures. The Centre d’Art Contemporain Genève presents The Place of Dead Roads, a solo exhibition by Joachim Koester featuring a new video installation, coproduced by the Centre, and an extensive collection of photographic works undertaken between 2003 and 2012. Using video, 16mm film, installation and photography, Koester’s work explores those troubled interzones between conscious and unconscious The Centre d’Art Contemporain Genève presents “The Place of Dead Roads”, a solo exhibition by Joachim Koester featuring a new video installation, coproduced by the Centre, and an extensive collection of photographic works undertaken between 2003 and 2012. The exhibition showcases the works of twenty-eight contemporary artists such as Francis Alÿs, Eleanor Antin, Anthony McCall, Joachim Koester, Louise Lawler and Jeff Wall. Through their photographs and installations, the artists examine our relationship with space and take us through historical locations, emotionally charged spaces, imaginary, real or reconstructed places.
